Free Andrew Bird Concert in SLC
Our friend R in Salt Lake City sent us this picture from last nights free Andrew Bird concert at the Gallivan Center. If any of our readers attended we'd love to hear what you thought. -K
Hey chicas, it's Rick in SLC. Yep, this was my pic from the free Andrew Bird and Josh Ritter concert last night. This was part of the 21-year Salt Lake City tradition of free Thursday night shows, called the Twilight Concert Series. This year includes upcoming shows from Neko Case, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, Nada Surf, and Broken Social Scene. And there's plenty of local microbrews, wine, and good food. Good times, folks.
I'm a huge fan of Andrew Bird, and last night's show didn't disappoint. His vocals were strong, and he pulled off the quirky mix of weird instrumentation flawlessly. The boy can ROCK the violin in ways that will make your head spin.
If you're in Salt Lake City, do yourself a favor and come downtown to the Gallivan Center on Thursday nights. You'll forget that you're in Utah.
