The Pixies Drew Us In

Coming home from the Chesham tube station Saturday night with my visiting friends T and J we heard the sounds of live music from one of the local pubs. The band was doing a pretty impressive cover of The Pixies Where is My Mind. We got to watch about 20 minutes of the last of their set which included some original material. Their loyal fans stood in front of the band and sang every word. As I was lamenting to T and J earlier in the day about the trials and tribulations of trying to hear live music in London and still get back home on public transportation, it was nice to hear a bit in my own backyard (or garden as they say here). J found out the band was called Pause and after checking out their myspace page, it looks like we had stumbled into their CD release party. And sure enough, someone in the audience yelled for Freebird. In England? Really? --J
